La Pilareta is the place to go in Valencia for local mussels. Known locally as clóchinas, they are steamed and served in their black shells. However, these are only available when in season. They also have an expansive menu of small dishes.

La Pilareta is over 100 years old and steeped in history. The place feels cozy, especially when patrons are lined up at the bar as they eagerly slurp their mussels from the shells.
