Corpus Christi & Carriage Museum IN VALENCIA
Both the Easter, Pasqua, and the Holy Week leading up the occasion, Semana Santa, to are a highly emotional and important time of the year for Spaniards and so too many locals in Valencia.
Special carriages used as floats for the Easter and Corpus Christi processions have been stored in a property known as the Casa de las Rocas since the fifteenth century. The design of the building dating from 1434 includes a particularly high main entrance to allow access to these these massive so-called Rocas.
Wooden, eagle-like figures known as Armazones de los Gigantes that are related to the history of Saint John the Evangelist are also on display,

HIKING IN VALENCIA
Hiking and trekking in the Valencia region is initially a matter of transport. Areas of interest for hiking are some 60 kilometres and more away from the city. They include Calles, Chelva, Navajas, Xativa, Chulilla and Montanejo.

A Brief History
A story with repeated periods of flourish and decline intersperses the history of Valencia. Roman soldiers were prevalent in Europe for several centuries before and after the birth of Christ. Just over a hundred years BC they settled in the area of today’s old city.
