Museum of Natural Sciences IN VALENCIA

Lavender coloured logo image

Aptly located, the Natural Science Museum of Valencia is situated within the confines the Jardines de Viveros, an expansive park on the northern bank of the Turia river.

An educational institute, the Museo de Ciencias Naturales is located in a former restaurant that has been restored and adapted specifically for the gathering, conservation, study and awareness of the natural and scientific heritage of Valencia. And beyond, as Europe’s finest exhibit of South American fossils, including a megatherium, reveals.

The palaeontology element extends to the Valencian Community to highlight how landscapes and ecosystems have evolved throughout the evolution of the region.

Walking in Valencia reveals a compact city centre that is pleasing on the eye, with architecture from many periods. The expansive beach invites with its smooth sand and distant horizon. The Turia offers greenery, blossoms and shade on hot summer days.

A Brief History

A story with repeated periods of flourish and decline intersperses the history of Valencia. Roman soldiers were prevalent in Europe for several centuries before and after the birth of Christ. Just over a hundred years BC they settled in the area of today’s old city.
