Fine Arts Museum IN VALENCIA
Anyone who has taken a high speed train to or from the city will know the name Joaquín Sorolla. The painter from Valencia is held in high regard.
Hosting a collection of works from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries, the Museum of Fine Arts includes rooms dedicated to the marvellous oeuvre of Valencia’s famous son.
Spain’s second largest art venue is located in an impressive seventeenth century premises where visitors are can discover an excellent collection of Renaissance paintings.
The artistic discovery begins with the medieval Primitivos Valencianos and also includes works of painters from the Valencian School. Espinosa, Soralla, Pinazo Van Dyck, Murillo, Velázquez, El Greco and Goya are just some of the artists represented at the Museo de Bellas Artes de València.
A wide collection of drawings and etchings as well as sculptures, archaeological pieces and unique architectonic fragments are also on display.
