CCCC IN VALENCIA

Art venue exterior

Amongst art venues, the Carme Contemporary Culture Centre is a gem. Located in what was originally the Nuestra Señora del Carmen monastery from the late thirteenth century, the diverse architecture alone and peaceful atmosphere are worth a visit.

Today, the cloisters, refectory and chapter house of the CCCC offer visitors an eclectic, exciting and vibrant art venue. In it’s earliest days, it gave the name to the old neighbourhood.

In between it also housed the Royal Academy of Fine Arts as well as the Schools of Fine Arts and Crafts where Sorolla, Domingo, Ignacio Pinazo, Benedito and the Benlliures developed their artistic skills.

Bohemian in style and flavour, the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporánea’s agenda of exhibitions is as diverse as the art lovers that frequent this marvellous establishment.

Walking in Valencia reveals a compact city centre that is pleasing on the eye, with architecture from many periods. The expansive beach invites with its smooth sand and distant horizon. The Turia offers greenery, blossoms and shade on hot summer days.

Delicious destinations

Going out to eat a delicious meal in a restaurant, have a relaxing drink with friends in a tapas bar or partying till very late are all great experiences. Unique to Valencia and the region, many restaurants offer almuerzo. Loosely translated to lunch, this inexpensive late morning meal is served with a drink and coffee.
