Original language movies in valencia
Original language movies are fortunately alive and well in Valencia. They are available to expats in a few cinemas or movie theatres. Screenings are mostly in original with subtitles VOS or VOSE, version original subtitulada or on occasions without, VO, version original.
Art house or independent movies are especially popular amongst residents, while blockbusters also have a good following.
Many films produced in English are screened in movie theatres for several days, others for shorter periods. Fortunately local residents enjoy the original versions of French with German, Arabic and other languages appearing from time to time too.
Try Cines Babel and Yelmo Cines for a great selection of up to date entertainment. Keep your eye out too for occasional specials at La Filmoteca of the Institut Valencia de Cultura.
YELMO
Located just over the Turia in the north west of Valencia, the Yelmo movie theatre screens films in original language. Although some an be screened in original version, most are in the original version with subtitles, VOSE.
This modern cinema is located in the Mercado de Campanar, has large theatres, large screens and often shows blockbusters.
BABEL
Babel cinema is a gem for movie goers. The movie theatre is located beyond the Turia in the east of the city. In Valencia, it is considered the true home for films screened in original.
Their cozy premises offer several mid-sized screens. Many films are shown in original English with subtitles, VOSE. French, German and other languages are screened too.
