Constitution Day IN VALENCIA

On this day, many expats may think of Saint Nicolas, the historical figure who inspired Santa Claus. In Germany and other European countries, children leave their shoes in front of the door so that Sat Nic fills them with goodies.
In Valencia and the rest of Spain, it’s Constitution Day or Día de la Constitución. This national holiday marks a significant milestone to end a lengthy and troublesome regime and dictatorship, which lasted from the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939 until the death of Franco in 1975.
It commemorates the adoption of the Spanish Constitution in 1978, marking national reform and the establishment of democracy in the country.
Public Holiday
Constitution Day is a public holiday when the vast majority have the day off due to most businesses and schools remaining closed. Since the Day of the Immaculate Conception follows on December 7, many choose to take the bridge day of too.
This offers an ideal opportunity for Spaniards to engage in one of their most favourite pastimes. They observe this extended period with family and friends. In accordance, many restaurants and cafes are likely to remain open for their clientele.

CHRISTMAS MARKETS
The longest running market and possibly the one with the most atmosphere is on Plaza de la Reina. Artisan and craft stands offer a wide variety of items for oneself or as gifts. Another with many stalls is inside the Colon market structure. The City of Arts and Sciences is also home to a curious mixture of Christmas stalls and numerous food trucks
Christmas in Valencia feels very festive due to the brightly decorated streets in the city centre. Lights also adorn municipal buildings and the city hall as well as an artificial tree erected on city plaza. The carousel and ice skating rink prove to be highly popular with people visiting all evening.
