Municipal History Museum IN VALENCIA
The Municipal Museum of History, Museo Histórico Municipal de Valencia, is uniquely located on the upper floor of city hall on the Plaza del del Ayuntamiento in the centre of Valencia.
Construction on this magnificent building was lengthy. Work was begun during the middle of the eighteenth century yet was not completed until the early twentieth. Entering the halls of the premises also reveals impressive architecture.
Artefacts from various periods are on display for historical enthusiasts to peruse. They reveal plans of the city, engravings with views of Valencia and murals of the first monarchs as well as symbols, relics and keys.
Of particular interest are items reaching back to the time of the Moors and belonging to a pivotal time in the city’s history. During his conquest, James I of Aragon reconquered Valencia in late 1238 and the banner as well as his sword bear testimony to those times.
