HALLOWEEN IN VALENCIA
October 31 2025
Originally a pagan and religious ritual, latter day Halloween celebrations have conquered the world. Young people love to party in Spain and Halloween has become yet another opportunity, although most aren’t aware that they are celebrating the visit of their ancestors souls to earth.
Trick or treat is far from widespread in Valencia or the surroundings but expats have taken the initiative over recent years. However, it is nowhere near the craze locally that it is in the United States or even the UK, so there are far less doorbells rung on Halloween.
That said, several shops stock fancy dress items for those who love to adorn themselves with costumes and various articles with which to decorate the home. The young especially like to party on the evening of October 31. Themed parties take place at home and in selected clubs.
Pumpkins have always been an enormously popular dish. Many outlets sell a number of varieties to eat, many of which are pre-cooked. Larger ones to fashion into a spooky appearance can also be found. Delicious specialties are available in the local markets and in selected food stores.Â

WALKING IN VALENCIA
Walking in Valencia reveals a compact city centre that is pleasing on the eye, with architecture from many periods. The expansive beach invites with its smooth sand and distant horizon. The Turia offers greenery, blossoms and shade on hot summer days.
Enticing Beaches and Sea
The main city beach in Valencia is known as Playa Malvarrosa, which includes Playa del Cabanyal. Well over two kilometres in length, this beautiful stretch of sand is as peaceful off season as it is popular during warmer weather. There is more than enough space to bathe, relax and play ball games.
