The highly popular Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich has been held in the city for well over forty years. The Marathon covers a distance of forty-two kilometres and flows through various streets of the city and all the way to the city of arts and sciences. Thousands of athletes and fans from around the world enjoy the incredible atmosphere.

At the time of writing, the Valencia Marathon is the fourth fastest in the world. The course is considered ideal to all runners to beat their best time. The ideal time of year for long-distance events, perfect temperature of between 12 and 17 degrees and an incomparable setting of the City of Arts and Sciences make the marathon one of the most important events on the national and international scene.

Because of its topography, its climate and its atmosphere, the city is considered to be made for running. So much so that since just 2017, its streets have seen twelve world records being broken.

Valencia Ciudad del Running was created in 2014 to provide coverage of all the amateur running events held in the city. Its aim is to join forces to consolidate the city as a benchmark internationally in the world of running.
