RELIGION IN VALENCIA
As visits to local churches reveal, the predominant religion in Valencia is catholicism. The cathedral sits proudly and predominantly alongside the basilica and appropriately close to Plaza de la Virgen. It is home to an example of the Holy Grail, with reputedly the world’s most authentic story.
Many churches reveal extensive damage done during periods of rampage, destruction and pillage. Many ancient artefacts have been removed yet a few still stand proudly and present themselves in all their original glory.
Services for Expats
English language services are held at independent congregations where international residents of any nationality are welcome. El Faro, or the torch, is well established with weekly worship in English, bilingual and Spanish that are also streamed online. Further services are held online or in groups during the week.
Other options to join a local community include Iglesia Anglicana Valencia, Nueva Esperanza Church Valencia, La Iglesia Hillsong, City Connect Church and perhaps the Evangelical Mission & Seminary International, the Great Achievers International Church & Ministries or the Christ Apostolic Church.

HIKING IN VALENCIA
Hiking and trekking in the Valencia region is initially a matter of transport. Areas of interest for hiking are some 60 kilometres and more away from the city. They include Calles, Chelva, Navajas, Xativa, Chulilla and Montanejo.

Walking in Valencia reveals a compact city centre that is pleasing on the eye, with architecture from many periods. The expansive beach invites with its smooth sand and distant horizon. The Turia offers greenery, blossoms and shade on hot summer days.
Art venues in Valencia present a magnificent range of periods across many centuries to the contemporary. Permanent and temporary collections cover the works of many local and international greats. Impressive collections cover many movements and styles.
