Fallas Awakening Ceremony

Expats wake up to the surprise local sounds of delight this morning! The Children‘s Awakening, Desperta Infantil, of the Fallas 2024 commences at 7:15 am on Calle de la Paz, San Vicente and Plaza del Ajuntamiento. This is rapidly followed at 7:30 am by the Big Awakening, Macrodesperta, which includes a so-called earthquake, terremoto, pyrotechnics display.

A major phase of the Fallas events kicks off when musical processions enter the Plaza del Ayuntamiento at midday. A loud, bright and smoky mascletas firecracker display, a so-called earthquake, follows on the city square at 2pm. Locals adore studying and applauding impressive choreography.

An elaborate, official Fallas opening ceremony of the year’s celebrations takes place during During early evening with the Mayor at the Serano Towers. A display of light and colour with spectacular pyrotechnic fireworks is at approximately 7 pm.
