POLITICS IN VALENCIA
Politics in Spain is colourful. A chequered past saw the death of Franco in 1975. A reintroduction of democracy and the monarchy of Juan Carlos resulted. The first elections for forty years were held in 1977. A further milestone was joining the European Economic Community, the former EU.
General, community and local elections are held regularly. These often see swings from left to right. New anti-austerity and liberal parties came to the fore in 2015. European elections are also held every four years.
